The International Association of Commercial Collectors, Inc.  (IACC) and the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA) announced today that the two associations have reached an agreement on a strategic alliance between them.

The alliance focuses on the production of a single, premiere certification program for commercial collection agencies that elevates professional standards while limiting duplicative efforts.

The IACC/CLLA-produced program will be based on the current CLLA certification program for commercial collection agencies. The agreement also includes the creation of a strategic alliance advisory committee to provide support for CLLA and IACC meetings and events and to help promote the certification program.

The alliance also outlines IACC and CLLA’s coordination and collaboration plans on certain legislative initiatives that are of mutual importance to the two associations.

“We are very enthusiastic about the strategic alliance between the IACC and CLLA to provide one industry certification program for commercial collection agencies that is fair, comprehensive and cost-effective for our members. It will also reduce confusion in the marketplace with regard to certification programs,” said Lee VandenHeuvel, IACC president and president of Ross, Stuart & Dawson Inc.. “This is an excellent example of how the two associations can work together for the benefit of our members and the commercial collection industry.”

Barry Gammons, of the Law Offices of Barry J. Gammons, PLLC, who currently serves as CLLA’s president, said: “The CLLA is considered to be an industry leader in certification, and we are honored to manage this elite certification program for commercial collection agencies. We look forward to working closely with Lee and the membership of the IACC, not only on the promotion of the certification program, but also on joint membership meetings and public policy issues that impact our industry.”
