Four convicted in $10 million credit card scam

The co-owner and three office managers of Missouri-based Gecko Communications have been found guilty and convicted of defrauding an estimated 50-thousand people out of more than $10 million dollars, according to a story reported by the Associated Press.

The scam involved contacting people with bad or weak credit, and offering a major credit card in exchange for a $219 payment. However, most people only received a credit card application for the money ? and very few, if any, received a credit card.

Zachary Whitehill, co-owner of Gecko Communications, faces up to 45 years in federal prison without parole, and a fine of up to $1.25 million dollars.
