Senate Banking Committee Chairman Richard Shelby said on Wednesday he believes legislation to overhaul supervision of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would be completed this year.


Shelby, an Alabama Republican, told reporters after a hearing that the issue was very important to a lot of legislators and that they would push to get the Senate bill done in 2006.
