The world’s largest call center, group Convergys, is planning to double its call center seats in the Philippines from the current 5,000 to 10,000, the Philippine presidential palace said Tuesday.

Convergys’ officials met with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and informed her of the company’s desire to expand operations in the Philippines, said the presidential palace in a statement.

Convergys is a global leader in integrated billing, customer care, employee care and transaction management software and services.

Among its long list of clients are government entities and top companies in telecommunications, Internet, cable and broadband services, technology, financial services and other industries in more than 40 countries.

President Arroyo was pleased to hear of Convergys’ expansion plans, as it would help attain her administration’s program of creating 10 million jobs in six years, said the statement.

The Florida-based company has seven call center facilities in the Philippines, six of which are in Metro Manila and one in Cebu, central Philippines.
