AMICAS, Inc., a provider of radiology and medical image and information management solutions, announced that 16 new contracts were signed in the first quarter of 2007. The signing of these contracts builds on the strong momentum started with the 18 contracts signed in the fourth quarter of 2006.

The 16 contracts signed in the first quarter of 2007 comprise a variety of hospitals and ambulatory customers that include imaging centers, teleradiology businesses, billing services, and radiology groups.

Two particular AMICAS innovations embraced by the marketplace include Vision Reach(TM), which empowers referring physicians with proactive delivery of images and results almost immediately upon study completion, and Insight Services,(TM) a suite of innovative, patient-friendly billing services designed to accelerate the time it takes to convert receivables into cash. Nine of the new contracts signed included Vision Reach, and 3 included Insight Services.

"The signing of these contracts demonstrates AMICAS’ continued penetration into hospitals and ambulatory imaging businesses with the Vision Series(TM) productivity solutions. AMICAS’ product innovations are continuing to have an impact on the radiology marketplace," said Paul Merrild, vice president of marketing at AMICAS.

AMICAS offers a world-class image management platform for hospitals and an integrated RIS, PACS, document management, and revenue cycle management solution for ambulatory imaging businesses. AMICAS’ revenue cycle management automation tools and related services continue to drive innovation in the radiology and billing service marketplace.

"Our significant investment in R&D is delivering exciting, innovative products and services to the radiology market," said Peter McClennen, president and chief operating officer of AMICAS. "In keeping with AMICAS’ culture of innovation, we have listened to our customers and are delivering radiology automation products and services that make a difference for customers. The market’s embrace of our full suite of radiology IT solutions is a testament to the focus AMICAS maintains on helping our customers grow, run, and optimize their radiology operations with maximum efficiency."
