The successful leadership of businesses undergoing rapid change is the bedrock of Jeff’s career.  With experience principally gained within major, international financial organisations, his functional experience is wide ranging, based on common sense and a strong ethos of process improvement.

Jeff joined Vertex in 2007 from Wachovia Bank where he was Chief Operating Officer for the credit card business.  Prior to that he worked for Juniper Bank (Barclays USA) where he was responsible for the strategic and technical deployment of all aspects of technology, operations and marketing.

He started his career originally as a computer programmer at the then, telecommunications headquarters of the UK Post Office (now known as BT).  He joined Citibank in the UK in 1972 and when he left in 1994 he had become the Chief Architect and Division Executive in the Global Finance Division in New York USA.  After a two year spell at JP Morgan as Chief Architect and Managing Director, he moved to First USA/Bank One where he was Executive Vice President with full responsibility for all operations and information systems for 22,000 employees and 70 million customer accounts.  In recognition of the achievement of growing the business from 12 million accounts to 70 million within two years, Jeff was ranked as one of the top ten CIOs by the major financial magazine Banking.
