Vertex Data Science Ltd., a leading international provider of outsourced business services and technology solutions, yesterday announced the selection of David E. Steele as executive vice president and general manager of its North American operations, which will be headquartered in Indianapolis.

Steele will be responsible for Vertex’s North American utility business. A utility industry veteran, Steele possesses more than 25 years experience in a variety of line and senior executive positions. Formerly, Steele served as vice chairman of Indianapolis-based IEI Financial Services, which was acquired by Vertex.

“Vertex’s acquistion of IEI Financial Services is an exciting development for the city of Indianapolis,” says Steele. “What it means is a $800 million company will continue to call Indianapolis its home office (for North America) and we expect to create up to 400 new jobs as a result of this transaction.”

For the past seven years, IEI has been providing customer management and debt collection services to U.S. utility and energy companies. Vertex Outsourcing’s six North American locations will be augmented by IEI’s fully dedicated bilingual contact center in Las Vegas, New Mex., as well as its Midwest operations center in Indianapolis.

Since its establishment in 1996, Vertex has expanded to include more than 8,000 employees located in the U.K., India and North America and is now the second largest business process outsourcing company in the U.K.

In North America, the combination of IEI and Vertex provides extensive meter-to-cash outsourcing services to three large energy providers and delivers accounts receivable management services to multiple energy and telecom players.
