More Americans were employed in November, but they were working fewer hours, the Labor Department reported Friday.


U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by 215,000 in November, the best job growth since July. The unemployment rate was steady at 5%.


The figures were generally in line with expectations on Wall Street, where economists had forecast a payroll gain of 223,000 and a jobless rate of 5%.
