The top Democrat on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday said a deal reached among Republicans on affordable housing provisions of a bill to stiffen oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was “unacceptable.”


But the Massachusetts Democrat, Rep. Barney Frank, said he would not oppose moving the bill to the House floor, and lobbyists said the congressman did not plan to oppose the legislation, even if the Republican deal stands.
