Sallie Mae, the nation’s leading provider of education funding, today announced the launch of its new loan program for American students pursuing a graduate education in health professions at institutions outside of the United States.

The Global Health Education Loan Program (GHELP) offers a suite of loan products that will allow graduate health professions students to fund up to 100 percent of the cost of their education at eligible foreign institutions of higher education. The program includes a Federal Stafford loan with no origination or federal default fees, a private education loan, and a residency and relocation loan option for graduate medical students. Federal Stafford loan borrowers may also realize valuable, money-saving benefits when they enter repayment. GHELP offers a quick and easy online application process, and borrowers will benefit from combined billing with their other Sallie Mae education loans. GHELP loans will also be offered in conjunction with Sallie Mae’s Graduate PLUS loan for graduate and professional students.

“This new graduate health professions program provides a much-needed solution for graduate health students and our international school customers,” said Lynn Ross, vice president of Sallie Mae International. “We are very pleased to offer this new product in support of U.S. students around the world.”
