DESCO Federal Credit Union of Portsmouth, Ohio, has moved its credit card processing to TNB Card Services to take advantage of TNB’s superlative customer service, the two organizations announced today.

DESCO FCU, with 25,000 members and $180 million in assets, decided recently to change processors in search of better service, both for the credit union itself and for its members. The credit union compared three processors, and said TNB made it an easy decision by standing out among them. DESCO is converting 6,100 cardholder accounts.

“We were impressed in every way with TNB,” said Fonda Warnock, credit card account administrator for DESCO FCU. “From the service orientation of their website to their promptness in responding, everything conveyed that they were service-friendly.”

Ms. Warnock added that DESCO FCU is looking forward to “greater profitability and more control of our portfolio” with TNB doing the processing. “TNB is much more service oriented, which is what we were looking for.”

DESCO FCU began in 1963 serving the employees of the Portsmouth Plant of Detroit Steel Company, and was community chartered in 1975. It serves counties in southern Ohio and northeastern Kentucky. The credit union has six branches in addition to its main office in Portsmouth.

“DESCO Federal Credit Union’s desire for improved customer service echoes what we hear from nearly all of the credit unions that move their card processing business to TNB,” said Glen Lee, first senior vice president, TNB Card Services. “It is important for them to work with a company that is capable and responsive. TNB not only supports them in that way, but works with them to develop the best card program possible for their members.”
