Per-Se Technologies, the leader in Connective Healthcare solutions designed to help physicians, pharmacies and hospitals realize their financial goals, today announced that Twin Cities Anesthesia Associates has outsourced its accounts receivable management to Per-Se. The 45-physician Twin Cities group provides anesthesia services to five facilities in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, including Fairview – University Medical Center, the core teaching hospital of the University of Minnesota.

In addition to providing comprehensive coding and billing services, Per-Se will help the group with payer contracting practices, provide compliance assistance and provide general financial management services, including pension fund management, health insurance oversight and malpractice solutions development.

Glenn Haller, M.D., president of Twin Cities, said his group became aware of Per-Se’s capabilities through a recommendation from another anesthesia practice. A cash flow analysis performed by Per-Se at the outset of the relationship uncovered significant opportunities to increase revenue throughout the group’s revenue cycle, Dr. Haller said.

“We anticipate a wide range of benefits from this relationship, including improved collections, stronger cash flow, better compliance and overall improvements in our financial management systems,” said Dr. Haller. “Because Per-Se has unmatched expertise in these areas, we’re confident that the physicians in the group will now have more time to do what they do best — practice medicine.”

Dr. Haller said Twin Cities would see significant operational savings as a result of the decision to outsource to Per-Se, since accounts receivable management for the group was previously done in-house.

Per-Se’s President of Physician Solutions, Pat Leonard, said the Twin Cities agreement underscores Per-Se’s leadership in anesthesia accounts receivable management services.

“At Per-Se, we’ve dedicated significant resources to mastering the many variables that go into accurate and effective anesthesia billing,” Leonard said. “Working with prominent groups like Twin Cities emphasizes our expertise in healthcare services and information technology. We look forward to helping these physicians strengthen their AR processes and improve their financial performance.”
