Bankers in London were on edge Thursday, but trading and business were “as usual” for a majority of the institutions with locations in the city.

One exception was UBS. The Swiss bank has offices in five locations throughout the city. Its office on Liverpool St., a few blocks from Aldgate Underground Station where one of the blasts was located, was temporarily evacuated.

“Trading was not interrupted,” said a spokeswoman.

Barclays, one of the U.K.’s biggest commercial banks, said 17 branches were closed, but that none of them were damaged. Branches in and around London closed early at 4 p.m., 11 a.m. New York time.
