As average temperatures blaze in excess of 100 degrees in Iraq this month, Oxford Management Services’ (OMS) ongoing commitment to helping others extends to U.S. armed forces serving overseas.

As a part of the OMS “Collecting Care Campaign” designed to help others in a time of need, OMS employees conduct organized drives to contribute to worthy causes throughout the year.  Earlier this year the campaign set its sights on the famous “All American Division,” the U.S. military’s world-renowned 82nd Airborne Division made famous for its role in all of America’s conflicts since World War II.

Through the OMS Collecting Care Campaign, OMS employee Linda Taddeo, whose own son Nathaniel Ellis serves in the 82nd, began what has become a continuous drive to support the troops in this division and others, including the 223rd Infantry.  Working together to identify items not typically supplied by the military and hard to obtain in a combat zone, OMS employees throughout the company assembled care packages for shipment directly to the troops serving overseas.   OMS recently gathered close to 1,000 items ranging from popular snacks from home to incidentals like dental floss.  Packages are shipped to the troops on a monthly basis.

The reaction from our troops shows they are as appreciative as they are brave.  Sergeants Richard Curtis, Joseph Morales, and Andres Beltran recently took the time to write, “The soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division … all make sacrifices every day and appreciate the care packets that you have put together out of the kindness of your hearts,” they continued, “It means a lot to know that there are still people like yourselves [who] care about and support us, the troops over here in the combat zone.”

Commenting on the generosity of OMS employees and the reaction of the soldiers, OMS President Peter Pinto added, “We’re honored to be a part of something that shows the character of our employees.  No matter what, we have to support the young men and women who sacrifice so much for us on a daily basis.”
