D&B, the leading provider of global business information, tools and insight, today announced that its global commercial database, the largest in the world, now contains 100 million business records.

The 100 million milestone reflects the growing need global businesses have for complete, timely and accurate information about companies with whom they do business. For example, the USA Patriot Act has resulted in companies having to know whether their customers and suppliers are in compliance with the Act. And with more businesses expanding beyond traditional borders, companies now require comprehensive information on global prospects so they can market products and services more cost efficiently.

D&B is uniquely qualified to meet these and other needs through its proprietary quality assurance process, known as DUNSRight™, which collects, aggregates, edits and verifies information from thousands of global sources every day. Since 2000, D&B has invested more than $250 million annually in DUNSRight™ to enhance the quality of the database, and over this same period, the number of business records has increased by 61 percent. D&B incorporates data that has been put through the DUNSRight™ process into its customer solutions, which companies rely on to make their risk management, sales and marketing, and supply management business decisions.

“The D&B brand stands for quality information and valuable business insight,” said Steven Alesio, chairman, CEO and president of D&B. “The expansion of our database to 100 million records and our ongoing investments in DUNSRight™ makes us uniquely qualified to provide insightful information so our customers can make strategic business decisions with confidence.”
