On August 16-17, 2009, ARMing Heroes (www.armingheroes.org) exhibited at the New Jersey National Guard’s Yellow Ribbon Job Fair and Expo at the Atlantic City Convention Center.  The event was held to provide one-stop-shopping for veterans deployed to Iraq with the NJ National Guard’s 50th Combat Brigade, a forum at which veterans and their families could learn more about various benefits and programs available to them.

The event included 38 colleges and universities, 102 military-friendly employers, and 70 military-friendly support organizations, including ARMing Heroes, which was founded in March 2009 to serve the needs of U.S. military veterans related to the accounts receivable management industry. At the event, the organization collected dozens of resumes from job-seeking veterans, including one from Paul Marks, who recently returned from Iraq and is now looking to reignite his career in the private sector, one he left behind to serve his country.

Paul was on active duty in Iraq for nearly a year, serving as a Non-Commissioned Officer responsible for 20 soldiers.  A college graduate, his prior work experience dates to 1993 and includes extensive experience in a corporate office setting, primarily in human resources-related positions.  When asked how his management experience in the military could help employers, Paul responded, “Being in the military taught me how to make things happen and get things done the right way the first time, without cutting corners.  This approach is something I could offer to any employer.  Plus, I am willing to relocate for the right offer.”  Paul’s story was also recently featured in a related article in the Star-Ledger.

ARMing Heroes fills a charitable niche by linking people identified with employment, credit, and financial counseling needs with the accounts receivable management industry, an industry uniquely poised to help in these areas.

Employers interested in Paul’s resume and the resumes of other veterans, as well as those who may be interested in volunteering their time or pledging other forms of support, are encouraged to contact the organization at www.armingheroes.org.
