Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist has filed suit against a Jacksonville collection agency, charging that Ellis Crosby & Associates Inc. threatened customers, posed as police and imposed illegal fees.

The company and its owner, Ted Ellis Crosby, are charged with multiple violations of the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Florida’s Consumer Collections Practices Act.
