A federal judge in New York on Friday ruled that a group of banks being probed by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer won’t have to turn over nonpublic data about the home loans they made to low-income borrowers in the state — at least for now.


U.S. District Court Judge Sidney Stein said he saw no reason why he should compel the banks to turn over the data sought by Spitzer.
