U.S. consumer confidence slipped in July after a big gain in the previous month.


The consumer confidence index fell to 103.2 in July from a revised 106.2 in June, the Conference Board said Tuesday. The June level was the highest in three years.


Economists had been expecting the index to rise only slightly, to a reading of 105.9, from the initial estimate of 105.8 in June, according to a survey conducted by MarketWatch.
