After three consecutive quarters of growing confidence in Texas’ economy, Texas business leaders are taking a more cautious outlook for the third quarter of 2005.

The Texas Business Leaders Confidence Index (BLCI) fell 3.1 points to an overall score of 62.6. Panelists still remain optimistic that the state economy will outperform the national economy. The index ranks confidence on a score of 0 to 100. A score above 50 is considered positive.

“Even though the BLCI slipped this quarter, it is important to note that confidence levels of panelists remain positive and over 50,” says Dr. John Butler, director of the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas at Austin.
