After scripting a global success story, the Indian BPO industry is looking to schoolchildren to address a perennial problem ? high attrition rates. An industry body, Call Centre Association of India CCAI), in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry CII), will launch a new program, eKaliber’, that aims to train 12th class students (the equivalent of High School seniors in the U.S.) across the country for a career in the BPO sector. If successful, this move could enable an entire generation to leapfrog onto a new path of success very early in life.


The association has been talking to various governments besides a host of private schools and the response so far has been “positive”. The programme, insiders say, will help the industry meet the projected demand-supply gap.
