MedPlexus, an innovative developer of mobile and Internet-based administrative, financial and clinical software for physician practices, today announced the availability of its Integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management Solution. MedPlexus’ solutions help medical practices enhance patient care, increase practice efficiency, reduce costs and improve information exchange between health care providers, payers, and patients in a secure, efficient and cost-effective manner.

“MedPlexus provides affordable, easy-to-use and easy-to-implement solutions that include online implementation and training, which drastically reduces the need for IT maintenance and support,” says Chittaranjan Mallipeddi, CEO and co-founder of MedPlexus. “Our predictable cost model provides physicians with a low total cost of ownership even small practices can afford, yet it includes the enterprise-class functionality found in more expensive solutions.”

Physicians can chose from a single integrated EHR and Practice Management Solution that helps a practice completely manage the entire process of patient care and administrative functions or they can select the EHR, Practice Management Solution or MedPlexus Billing solution individually.

MedPlexus’ scalable and Internet-based software can be supplemented with related billing and support services, including back-end billing, practice audits and electronic data interchange (EDI). MedPlexus solutions streamline physician business operations, automating and improving the efficiency of patient scheduling, charting and billing. Seamless connectivity to hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies and payer providers radically simplifies processes and improves patient care.

Working with premier IT industry leaders, MedPlexus participated as the sole source-provider of EHR products for a federally funded electronic health record pilot project with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the Center for Medicare Services (CMS), and the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). The Phase-One pilot was completed in December 2004 and Phase-Two was completed in December 2005. MedPlexus provided software solutions to a variety of physician practices nationwide, successfully installing, configuring, training and supporting pilot participants without ever visiting any of the participating practices. MedPlexus maximized the Internet for the full benefit of service without the complications of traditional on-site scheduling and training.

Pilot participants regularly provided MedPlexus with critical feedback into EHR implementation barriers, workflow and ease of use, which MedPlexus overcame in meeting proof-of-concept success, leading the industry to help meet the needs of small and mid-size practices. Depending on physician practice preference for training and implementation, MedPlexus solutions are adaptable for incremental integration or mission-paced rapid adoption. Dr. Desiree Butter, M.D., a family practitioner in Wexford, Pa. reports, “MedPlexus responsiveness and support service reflects their attention and commitment to the needs of a busy medical office. Running the ASP software model provides the advantages of low cost implementation, ease of remote access to my patient charts and simple software setup without the need for a server. The integrated EHR-Practice management capability enables two-keystroke billing once my notes are finished; I bill virtually at the time of service.”
