Harrison, New York-based loan-sale advisory firm Garnet Capital Advisors, LLC announced that senior banking-industry executive Maurice H. Hartigan II has joined the firm as Limited Partner and Director of Strategic Development. Mr. Hartigan will manage Garnet’s strategic planning process and support the firm’s senior-level client relationships.

Mr. Hartigan joins Garnet following 43 years in the financial services industry, most recently as CEO of The Risk Management Association, the financial-services industry’s most prominent association of risk professionals.  During his tenure at RMA, Hartigan led the Association to a period of dramatic growth in membership, revenues and profitability. He retired from RMA in July of 2007.  Previously, he held senior positions in both client and risk management at PNC Financial Services and at Chemical Bank (now JPMorgan Chase), where he was Head of Wholesale Client Management, Head of International Banking and Chair of the Credit Risk Policy Committee.

“We are thrilled to have a banking-industry executive of Maury’s standing joining Garnet,” said Lou DiPalma, a Managing Partner and Head of Sales at Garnet.  “Maury’s amazing success growing RMA from both the operational and profit perspectives is an ideal template for guiding Garnet through our current period of heavy growth and institutionalizing our substantial intellectual assets.”

Garnet Managing Partner Sean McVity also noted the critical role Hartigan will play in maximizing the client impact of Garnet’s loan-sale advisory business, adding, “We have always been dedicated to a priority of providing clients with objective and meaningful advice, in addition to our transaction-execution strength.   Maury’s tremendous depth of experience in banking and credit policy will be an invaluable asset in helping Garnet to better assess and anticipate the institutional needs of our creditor clients.”
