Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. (WWR) is honored to announce the election of attorney Raymond F. Moats as Education Chair for the Ohio Creditors’ Attorneys Association (OCAA) for the remaining 2011-2012 term, as Alan H. Weinberg, managing partner of WWR, steps down as education chair after many years of service.

“I am excited to fill the role of Education Chair for the OCAA, and realize I have some big shoes to fill following Mr. Weinberg’s years of service in this role with the group. I look forward to the challenge”, Moats explained.

Weinberg added, “I am confident that Raymond will do an excellent job and continue my commitment to developing dynamic and effective educational programs for attorneys.”

The OCAA offers comprehensive semi-annual conferences where attorneys discuss a variety of topics, including FDCPA, FCRA, Ohio Case law and hearing requirements of various courts. CLE credit is typically offered for portions of meetings on issues relevant to practice area. OCAA meetings are held in Columbus, Ohio in April and October.

An organization of attorneys who focus on creditors’ rights, the OCAA has been the voice of collection attorneys in Ohio for many years. The group participates in the legislative process along with other similarly-interested groups throughout Ohio, monitoring and advocating legislation that affects the collection efforts of clients and practice, and reviewing pending bills to ensure that legislation enacted by the Ohio General Assembly is practical and effective from the perspective of creditors and creditors’ rights attorneys. Members of the association also meet twice a year to network and learn.

Raymond "Chip" Moats

Raymond (“Chip”) F. Moats, III is an attorney who practices in Consumer Collections, focused on the Consumer Collections (General) and Probate Groups. Based in the Grove City, Ohio office, Mr. Moats earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California (Irvine) in 1987 and his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1992. A member of the Ohio State and Columbus Bar Associations, Mr. Moats is licensed in California and Ohio and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court (Central, Eastern, Northern & Southern Districts of California). Mr. Moats is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Church of the Messiah, United Methodist Church in Westerville.
