One window closes; another opens.

Lockport Collections is a new debt collection agency setting up shop in Western New York. Brian Peunic, an area native, started the operation as a sister company to his Southern Capital Associates, a full-service collection agency that buys up debt and pursues payments owed to small businesses.

The addition of Lockport Collections is seen as a boon to the local economy. As Peunic pointed out to the Tonawanda News, his purchase of put an abandoned, in-arrears building back on the tax rolls and employees will be looking for nearby places to eat and shop. The pace of additional hiring will depend on how quickly he can turn old rooms into new calling center areas, he said.
