Freddie Mac, the country’s second largest source of money for home mortgages, says its portfolio of residential loans grew in December as a drop in mortgage bond values made its securities more attractive.

However, delinquencies on home loans backing some of Freddie Mac’s mortgage bonds rose to their highest level since 2003.
