A disgruntled Silicon-Valley-based debt collection employee decided that a computer virus, rather than helping himself to a bagful of office supplies, was the more appropriate bird to fly after he quit his job.



William Shea was sentenced Thursday for placing a so-called “time bomb” on his employer’s computer. He?ll spend a year in prison and six months on house arrest for his geeky shenanigans.



Shea?s virus corrupted more than 57-thousand company records at his former place of employment, Bay Area Credit Services.
