Fort Pierce, Florida – The American Cancer Society held the first annual Be Your Own MVP event at Yankee Stadium in the Legends Suite Club.  With the help of longtime supporters and committee members Peter Pinto and Patrick Pinto of Oxford Management Services, the event raised over $90,000 to help fight back for all cancers that affect men.

“As we are all aware, cancer does not discriminate and it has impacted each of our families in one form or another,” said Patrick Pinto, Executive Vice President of OMS.  "We have actively participated in the American Cancer Society for many years and are proud to support a cause that is close to our hearts.  We believe that we have a responsibility to give our younger generations a fighting chance to one day live in a cancer free world.  This event was a great first step for our committee and we look forward to continuing to raise awareness and expand our support group.”

The Be Your Own MVP fundraiser was designed as a fun-filled event to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.  There were approximately 200 people in attendance and each of them had an opportunity to take a photo with the World Series Trophy and Championship Ring.  Everyone also enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the Stadium and were able to take a turn in the batting cage up against the fast ball machine.  In addition, several former Yankees stopped by the event.  During dinner, guests were entertained by a tribute to Bob Sheppard by the talented Chris Pavia, who has captured the essence of Bob Sheppard with a terrific impersonation.  The evening’s highlight was 15-year-old cancer survivor Andrew Fierstein’s inspirational speech about his personal fight against cancer.
