A collection agency owned by Outsourcing Solutions, Inc. (OSI) finds itself as the target of a class action lawsuit for improper debt collection tactics, according to a press release distributed by the plaintiff’s attorney.

The release – which is long on emotion but short on legal accusations, says that North Shore Agency, Inc.’s collection practices violate the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Florida’s Consumer Collection Practices Act.  The lawsuit was filed in Florida on behalf of a Clearwater woman.  The press release does not specifically mention how North Shore allegedly violated the FDCPA in the plaintiff’s case.

North Shore is a collection agency headquartered in Westbury, NY that focuses primarily on collection letters and billing.  OSI bought North Shore in 1998.

The press release, in typical plaintiff-lawyer style, is basically an advertisement for consumers to join the class.  It also goes to great lengths in “exposing” consumer complaints against North Shore; complaints that may not even be an FDCPA violation.
