Turns out, a lot of folks in Martinsville, Virginia, had the same dream: to be the best new recruits for a new debt collection call center, ever.

?Our goal was to hire 10 employees for our Dec. 4 class,? Christina Beach, recruiter for Vero Beach, Fla.-based Medical Data Systems Inc., told the Martinsville Bulletin, ?and we?ve already identified over 40 who qualify.?

The company?s new office will eventually employ 90 people, most of who will work as telephone bill collectors, calling people on behalf of clients, such as hospitals, to try to collect delinquent payments.

Beach said the applicant pool in Martinsville supersedes what she has found in other places where she has opened offices, where she said she often had a difficult time filling positions even after spending thousand of dollars on advertising.

?I think (it?s) the willingness to work. Initially they may not have the ability or the experience to collect bills, but I think their willingness will allow us to give them the proper training and make them effective bill collectors or insurance collectors,? she said.
