Atlantic Collection Agency Ltd., a Halifax collection agency, is in dutch with the Canadian government and given a four-month grounding after failing to hand over the money it received from debtors in a timely fashion.

The complaints against the agency primarily amount to the fact that the firm had collected about $10,000 in debts but ? oops ? hadn?t passed that money along to its clients. Which, apparently, was one of those fine-print things or something.

The company is considered in violation of the Collection Agencies Act. According to the Chronicle Herald of Halifax, Nova Scotia, who is running the story, under the Collection Agencies Act a firm must remit money from a debtor by the 20th day of each month.
