Finland’s national broadcasting company, YLE, reported yesterday that the trade union representing debt collection workers is on the verge of a general strike.

The union terminated the credit and collection industry’s collective agreement after unsuccessful discussions with management on pay rises that began last week. The agreement was set to expire March 31.

The union said that a target date of April 1 has been set for the strike and could continue until April 24.

More than 1,200 workers are a part of the union and are employed by ARM giants like Intrum Justitia and Lindorff.
