CAC Luxuriates at a "Private Evening at the Reagan Presidential Library"

The California Association of Collectors (CAC) recently held “A Private Evening at the Reagan Presidential Library.” The second annual PAC fundraiser turned out to be a huge success.

The fundraiser was open to everyone involved in the collection industry and friends and family members were welcome to attend. Over 200 guests were able to tour the grounds, the entire museum and enjoy a reception in the Air Force One pavilion.

Artifacts from President Reagan?s childhood and professional career were on display including his Eureka College letter sweater, a recreated studio booth highlighting the beginning of his career as a radio broadcaster (which led to a movie contract with Warner Bros.), film clips were shown and original costumes and movie posters were on display. Visitors also had the chance to learn about a true-life love story between Ronald and Nancy Reagan as well as their involvement in politics. Attendees could follow his presidency, from reviving the economy to reducing the size of the federal government and ending the threat of nuclear war.

Guests walked through the Air Force One that President Reagan used during his eight years in office. Before boarding Air Force One, guests took a moment to turn and give a presidential wave ? providing a memorable souvenir photo. It was a good time for all. Ron Klein, CAPPA Recovery and Collections, said, “This year?s PAC event was wonderful on many fronts. The inspiring location provided a spectacular backdrop for tremendous networking opportunities. I?m located less than 30 minutes from the Library, and I had never taken the time to visit this national treasurer. My wife and I are going to plan another visit to see more of the venue.”

During the dinner, CAC PAC Chair Walt Carleton, recognized and thanked Assemblymember Audra Strickland, Tony Strickland, Republican candidate for State Controller, and Cameron Smyth, Republican candidate for Assembly district 38 for attending. Carleton summed up the evening by saying, “This was a remarkable event in many ways and was a testament to the hard work of many individuals. I am pleased to look around and see so many colleagues supporting the CAC efforts, and particularly the PAC. With this venue being so spectacular, we will be challenged to top the event next year. But stay tuned, because we will!”

The event raised over $20,000 for the PAC.
