HSBC said yesterday that it is planning to close call centers in Orlando, Duluth, MN and Scottsdale, AZ, according to various media reports.

Employees at the three locations were notified yesterday of the closings.

The move is a part of the integration of Metris Companies into the HSBC corporate structure. HSBC bought the credit card issuer late last year for $1.6 billion. All three call centers were former Metris locations.

Also, all three have been identified as customer care and collection centers. The total number of affected workers appears to be more than 500.
