Ontario Systems announces the general release of its integrated electronic payments transfer functionality using the Link product. The Link product provides a fully integrated connection to ITS, Mid-America Solutions and Western Union.

The first client to utilize the EPT functionality through Link was Professional Account Services Inc., a collection agency located in Brentwood, Tenn. After setting up the service in the Link product, the staff hours required to process phone payments dropped from 74 hours a month to two hours a month. The new system also eliminates the need to make paper copies of credit card numbers, increasing security and eliminating shredding costs. Card numbers are encrypted in the database and masked in the system, also increasing security.

If a check is returned for insufficient funds, a paper-based check can be re-presented only once but an electronic payment can be re-presented twice and you select the day of the second re-presentment. Using the automated re-presentment functionality, PASI always selects Friday for secondary re-presentments. Electronic payments also have priority for payment over paper-based checks. The result is a significant decrease in NSF’s.

Account representatives appreciate the ability to identify if an account is in good standing and process a payment while the responsible party is on the phone. With this functionality, they can find an alternative method of payment if the first one is rejected.

“We are enthused that this solution offers our clients fully integrated EPT functionality while still allowing the freedom of choice between multiple vendors,” said Paul G. Smith, Ontario Systems vice president of Link vendor relations.
