The trickle-down from General Motors’ financial troubles dropped on Convergys Corp. Thursday. The automaker announced that it is closing call centers in Hillsboro, Ore., and Tampa, Fla., and reducing staff at a call center in Austin, Texas.

Convergys manages the Hillsboro and Tampa call centers as a subcontractor for IBM. The closings will idle 600 workers in Hillsboro and 400 in Tampa.
