Fidelity Federal Bank & Trust has been ordered to pay an astounding $50 million to settle a class-action lawsuit brought against it for purchasing personal information from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles on some 656,000 people.


According to the complaint, the bank bought the information for direct marketing purposes. The purchase was in direct violation of the Drivers Privacy Protection Act.
