The Wall Street Journal in its Monday edition is once again highlighting debt collection for small businesses through its Small Business Link column this month.

In the Marketplace section of printed editions, the paper is running excerpts from an online chat forum on the topic of debt collection. Two collections experts – Carol Frischer, collection manager at an accounting firm, and Michelle Dunn, an ARM industry consultant – fielded questions from online Journal readers.

The special section highlighted an exchange, among others, between a reader and the panelists discussing the "we’ll pay you when we get paid" excuse familiar to commercial collectors. Michelle Dunn noted that sometimes companies must "fire" certain clients if they are not paying their bills on time.

The section also included highlights from content that the paper previously ran on debt collection, such as an article detailing eight steps to a successful collections call.

The paper runs a monthly focus for small businesses called Small Business Link. Each month, a new topic is selected as the focus for content.
