Call center operator Alorica, Inc. is opening a new office in Terre Haute, Ind. that it claims will bring 600 jobs to the city by 2009. The Chino, Calif.-based company provides customer service management support for its clients.

At a ceremony Thursday in front of the new office, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels joined company officials in welcoming the jobs.

“We’re always working on improving the competitive environment in Indiana to attract more new job-creating investment,” Daniels said in a prepared statement. “Today, that effort will help Hoosiers in the Terre Haute area, and the decision to locate here couldn’t come at a better time.”

Alorica has already begun recruiting for the call center jobs in the area.

Alorica counts 7,500 employees in 13 call centers in the United State and Philippines.
