Mumbai, India-based Firstsource is creating up to 800 new call center jobs in Northern Ireland as the accounts receivable management and business process outsourcing provider picked the Emerald Isle for its European “Center of Excellence.”

According to the Press Trust of India, Firstsource will expand its current location in Londonderry, Ireland by adding 300 jobs to a location that already employs 350 call center agents. The remaining 500 jobs will be placed at what company officials called a new European center of excellence: a new call center to be built at an as-yet unnamed location.

Firstsource also currently employs 550 people in the Northern Ireland capital of Belfast.

The Indian company will use a $13 million grant from Invest Northern Ireland, a regional economic development agency, to partially finance the expansions.

Firstsource is an international BPO company providing call center, back-office, and debt collection services from 34 locations around the world. The company employs 17,000 people.
