Intrum Justitia, one of Europe’s largest debt collection agencies, is criticizing Irish businesses for their bad debt management.

Though Ireland is among Europe’s fastest growing economies, Intrum Justitia wanted to draw attention to what it considers to be Ireland’s alarming levels of bad debt and late payments.

The information comes from Intrum Justitia’s annual European Payment Index.

These latest trends in late payments, Intrum Justitia argues, are putting Irish companies at significantly increased risk of suffering cash flow problems and in serious cases will place more companies in danger of bankruptcy.

Ireland isn’t alone with its alleged mismanagement of bad debt.  Intrum Justitia is also pointing fingers of blame at the Netherlands.  According to the European Payment Index, 1.8 percent of outstanding payments are never paid.
