SunGard announced that Sobel Westex, a linen supplier for the hospitality industry throughout the United States and Latin America, has selected SunGard’s AvantGard Receivables solution to help provide automation and improvements in collections and deduction management. AvantGard Receivables helps customers to improve liquidity management by delivering solutions for operational control and visibility of treasury, receivables and payments operations.

“We were operating in a manual environment and required an automated solution that would help us reduce the time the credit and collection team spends on performing administrative tasks by introducing workflow automation,” said Carlos Fabbri, chief financial officer of Sobel Westex. “We also needed visibility into our deductions in order to reduce our dispute cycle time and manage our bad debt expense. AvantGard’s ‘On-Demand’ or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model will help us meet these objectives without the upfront capital costs traditionally associated with software procurement.”

“AvantGard’s ‘On-Demand’ or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution offers significant advantages for small-to-medium sized businesses looking to benefit from automation software without the upfront costs associated with licensing,” said C.J. Wimley, chief operating officer of SunGard’s AvantGard Receivables business unit. “The On-Demand solution offers predictable expenses, ease of installation, automatic upgrades and reduced IT resource requirements in a secure environment.”

Effective management of accounts receivable is a critical area to target for liquidity management and process improvements as it is a key driver of cash, cost containment and customer relationships. AvantGard provides an
end-to-end collaborative financial management solution which is able to touch cash coming in and out of the enterprise at every point, thus giving the CFO and treasurer tools to help drive maximum value from working capital and help reduce risk.
