It?s a great day to be an Arizona town named ?Scottsdale.? According to a story the Arizona Republic is running, the eBay payment system company is bringing the party ? and about 400 jobs — to the corner of 90th Street and Mountain View Road.

And these are not just any job. PayPal is opening a technology development center ? and this has Scottsdale?s economic vitality director Dave Roderique giddy as a school kid. “It’s a very good thing,” Roderique, channeling Martha Stewart, said.

What?s good for Scottsdale will hopefully be good for the entire state, at least if you ask Arizona governor Janet Napolitano: ?PayPal has distinguished itself as an innovative leader in the payments industry,” Napolitano said in a news release. “Arizona can be proud that PayPal has selected our state as a place where it can continue to grow its business, and deliver secure and convenient online payment services for millions of Internet customers.”
