As part of its plan to increase offshore jobs from 1,600 to 6,000, Washington Mutual, according to a story running on MSNBC.com, is laying off 1,400 workers in Washington state and Florida.


The workload will be shifted to to facilities in Albion, N.Y.; Milwaukee, and Manila in the Philippines, according to Washington Mutual spokeswoman Darcy Donahoe-Wilmot.
