More than 197,000 people have been affected by a University of Texas at Austin computer breach according to a story running at ComputerWorld.com. The breach occurred over the past weekend.

?One hundred percent of our effort right now is on going through the database log files to determine which individuals are at risk,? Dan Updegrove, vice president of IT, said in a statement to ComputerWorld.com. ?We have shut down the vulnerable systems, but the detailed analysis on how the intruder got in, at the moment, is of less interest to us.?

At risk from the breach are the names, social security numbers, and dates of birth of current and prospective students, as well as alumni and faculty members.
