When IAT Marketing Manager, Marti Lythgoe, was asked to hand out fliers for Jordan East District School Board candidate, Raelynn Swenson, she had a better idea: call every household in the newly-created district and deliver a personally recorded message. As a public service, IAT allowed Swenson to record a one-minute message stating why she was qualified for the position. The night before the June 24th election, IAT used their CT Impact Hosted Broadcast Messaging equipment to successfully deliver the message and a reminder-to-vote to more than 3,200 households.

Swenson was thrilled to learn what IAT’s dialing technology can do to “get the word out.” She was armed with years of education experience and a strong desire to serve, but limited by a low budget and 15 other candidates vying for just one spot on the Board. She was amazed by the volume of contact attempts that could be made in just 2 hours and by the system’s capability to detect answering machines and leave the message, even if no one was home.

Swenson didn’t win the election, but she was so grateful for the unexpected free publicity she got that she generously treated all IAT employees to a piece of pie.

Randy Cooper, IAT Senior V.P., said, “The experience was mutually beneficial. We appreciated the opportunity to show off our capabilities and to encourage more citizens to vote.”

IAT made the calls for Swenson as a public service. Phone numbers came from the voter registrations rolls, based on voting district and precinct. IAT usually charges hosted services customers by the minute for delivering messages, which can be interactive and customized by the called party’s responses. IAT also provides predictive dialing services and on-site systems, primarily for the debt collection industry.
