Accounts receivable management and business process outsourcing giant NCO Group is adding some 400 jobs to a recently-expanded call center in Missouri, according to an announcement Wednesday by a local Chamber of Commerce.

The Joplin (Mo.) Chamber of Commerce said that NCO is making good on its promise made in May to expand an acquired call center in the Southwestern Missouri town (“NCO Group to Expand in Missouri on Best Buy Contract,” May 13).

NCO has expanded its customer relationship management contract with Best Buy and the retail chain’s Geek Squad computer help unit recently, necessitating additional capacity at the call center.

The call center, a former Wal-Mart store, was part of NCO’s acquisition of Systems and Services Technologies (SST) in August 2007. According to local paper The Joplin Globe, NCO already has 500 employees at the facility.

When the expansion plan was originally announced in May, an NCO spokesman told insideARM that the company will be “using the excess capacity in the building to facilitate the CRM work on [the Best Buy] contract. Best Buy has been a CRM client of NCO since 2005.

NCO received nearly $2 million in state and local incentives to build-out the call center.
