The Baltimore Sun is covering a growing controversy involving private check collection companies in its Wednesday edition.


Yesterday, two consumer groups held a press conference and issued a release detailing the ?horrors? of private collection firms that go after consumers, on behalf of local prosecutors, that have bounced checks. At issue is a provision in current proposed legislation that exempts these private collectors from certain parts of the FDCPA when going after check bouncers.
